If you’re wondering, “Who in the heck is this guy and why is he putting on this event?”...I am a local avid birder/bird watcher and amateur wild bird photographer. I grew up in Nampa. I currently live in Meridian, Idaho with my wife Jessica and our four children. I've been addicted to birds since my father-in-law introduced me to them at Deer Flat NWR in the summer of 2004. I’m just warning you, Bullock’s Orioles have mind-altering effects. I started blogging about birds and birding in January 2009 and my website www.BirdingIsFun.com now ranks among the top 10 birding blogs in the world and features new content daily from about 30 contributors. In November 2011, I joined the staff of the American Birding Association as the Bird of the Year coordinator. In 2012, celebrity birder and field guide creator Richard Crossley invited me to be the northwest regional coordinator for Pledge to Fledge. I co-own the family home building business with my dad. Birding is my unpaid second full-time job hobby. I’m doing this simply because birding is fun and I think more people will enjoy it too... especially when we invite them!
